Inking Critically
Hello friends,
I am glad to inform you that the inking process of Spirit-Girl #1 is coming along at a good pace. I am currently on page 5. Though, it will become page 6 as I do have to add in a page between pages 2 and 3 to enhance story clarity (many thanks to my wife’s invaluable editorial input!). This will lengthen the book to 9 pages. I have no deadline set to finish but how awesome would it be to publish the comic on Canada Day? We’ll see.
The video above is an excerpt from a CALMstream before I started inking the comic. It’s a time lapse of inking practice using the Hunt 513 dip pen nib. It turns out this tool is almost exclusively what I am using to ink Spirit-Girl #1. I think keeping it simple is for the best. I will gain a familiarity with the tool. I can add another tool and technique in my next comic. And gradually will build up an arsenal of techniques with which to make art.
I invite you to join me and my little crew that shows up in the CALMstream chat every morning at 5am PST. Regulars include my brother, another aspiring artist from Eastern Europe and an Australian comic artist who pops in now and again.
Have a great day!

Currently learning inking for my content. Love this.
So fascinating to see how the drawings are created!
