I think you mean the Ames guide. It's an adjustable guide for lettering. I demonstrate how it's used here: https://comicsodyssey.substack.com/p/how-i-hand-letter-my-comics-using

You can buy these on amazon.

Yes, you should be on the internet. No, you should not be on social media.

So how do you define what is social media and what isn't?

No need to overthink it. Twitter. FB. Instagram. Whatever is poisoning you. Dump it.

Already ditched all those. I have FB but only 3-4 family members on there. I only use it to vid call my brother. He doesn’t know how to use other vid call apps really.

PS if you need control over the time slot you occupy take it, there are other way we can get to know one another without tech, snail mail is as good way as anything else and you have something you can put away after you're done reading. I can walk away from anything even if staying would be what I would prefer ,up to you Brother you own me nothing.

I have to go and start our school day, so I was unable to finish listening right now, but I just wanted to tell you thank you for a thoughtful critique of Internet culture and chasing that popularity. And I have wondered many of these things, too. I quit work to raise kids, and thought to try to help out by selling art online. But it’s hard to be found in such a vast and limitless space, so advertising on social media is advised. And that is how I fell into the Internet machine. I love the calm stream, by the way, and the relationship with your brother sounds so wonderful. Thank you for sharing your art and your thoughts.

Could be something we can talk about on stream if you're interested or personally in private session. I saw what you mean by a pen name; I use the same (sort of) but if privacy is a concern I get what you mean.

I think for now I'd rather just hang out with you guys and not broadcast it. At least until I can sort out all my thoughts on this.

It is 2024. If you want your art known, you must be on the internet. I use a pen name, two in fact. So protect not only your privacy and family but protect yourself from jealous liars also.

I guess I'm questioning whether I want my art known. I really am questioning this fundamentally. But a pen name is a good idea. I operate under a pen name, but there's no limit to the number of pen names...

Really appreciated your stream of consciousness. It was a sort of meditation and motivational talk. How lucky you are to be able to draw while letting your mind wander to other ideas. Writers, it seems to me, don't have that luxury as our brains need to block out all other thoughts in order to directly focus on the writing. I can't even listen to music when I write :(

I'm the same when I write. Except I can listen to ambient music. That's it's most attractive feature.

Richard Meyer, AKA it's a boy Zack over at Comics matter covered this entire story very well. In fact I have been listening to him for several weeks and he laid the groundwork for the understanding of what was going on before the actual murder took place. It's now being referred to as a murder because that's how Ed referred to it in his suicide note. These were the people that drove him to suicide. Not only that but he named them specifically, no one in the industry did anything or said anything about it, no one called for a change of behavior, and then they all migrated over to Blue sky and consoled one another.

Cancel culture is an absolute cancer of our society, and Comics is full of a handful of people who make their bones destroying other people's lives. If you haven't been over to the comics matters channel you should definitely check out the last 2 months of his uploads.
